The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, Philadelphia
(1993 - 2002) $35,000,000
Home to the internationally renowned Philadelphia Orchestra, the Kimmel Center invigorated economic growth and development of arts in the region, fostered a thriving outreach program in the performing arts and created a world-class cultural district in Philadelphia. In addition to being the largest donor to the Center, a specific gift from Sidney Kimmel has been designated to give children access to free performances and to educate and expose them to the arts.
The National Constitution Center, Philadelphia
(2001) $5,000,000
The National Constitution Center is the only museum in the world dedicated to honoring and explaining the U.S. Constitution. The signature piece of the visitor experience is the 350-seat Kimmel Theater, where “Freedom Rising” tells the story of the Constitution, combining a live actor and multi-media elements.
